    Joseph's Army Service Records show that on 16th December 1914 he enlisted at Coventry and gave his age at the time as 18yrs and 9 months [he was 16] and said he was employed as a miner by Stanley Brothers of Stockingford. It appears that he joined the British Expeditionary Force in France on 26th June 1915. He should therefore have received as 1915 Star but the same is not included in his Medal Index Card.
