Events Programme

This is the page where you can find events and meetings for the whole of the year; it’s what we call our “Long-term” page, as opposed to the information on our Latest Update pages.

NNWFHS meetings are on the second Tuesday of the month.

Each Zoom meeting opens on at 7.00pm for a 7.30pm start

Members attend free of charge and are sent the Zoom link in the Newsletter.

Live meetings: admission £2.50/member; £5 member + one; £4 non-member.

Zoom meetings: members will have a Zoom link provided in their Newsletter.

Specialist talks on Zoom – available via EventBrite for non-members £5.

The end-of-month discussion sessions are for members only – 7.30pm.

Come and Talk Family History and Members’ DNA Discussion meetings continue as usual,

These are generally on the last Tuesday of each month except December.

Notifications will be in newsletters and reminders will go out to members.

PROGRAMME FOR 2024

Tuesday 21 May

Face-to-face.  A visit to St Peter’s Church, Mancetter, CV9 1NJ. Meet at the church at 7.00pm. There is a small parking area adjacent. NB this is the third Tuesday as the church in use on NNWFHS’ usual night.

Come and Talk Family History – Zoom.

Tuesday 11 June

Face-to-face meeting. CWGC Graves at Oaston Road Cemetery. Dan Phelan will guide the visit, explain the work of CWGC and detail the stories of some of those commemorated.  NB meet 5.45pm at Oaston Road Cemetery – tour at 6pm (due to cemetery closure times).

Down New Avenues – DNA discussion – Zoom.

Tuesday 9 July

Hybrid Meeting – on Zoom or Face to Face at Horeston Grange. Doors and Zoom will open at 7pm ready for the talk to start at 7.30pm. Peter Coulls will be talking to us about the trams in Warwickshire, focusing mainly around Leamington and Warwick. Tuesday 13 August

Face-to-face. Summer visit to St Mary and All Saints’ Church, Fillongley. Satnav: CV7 8ES. The church can be accessed from Tamworth or Church Lane. There is no designated car park. You can park on Church Lane and walk up through the church yard. Alternatively there is parking outside the primary school available when the school is not open. The roadside path down to the church is narrow (better on opposite side). Please be careful if dropping anyone off on Tamworth Road as it is very busy.

Zoom opens at 7pm, presentation starts 7.30pm.  Richard Holt, professional genealogist. Apprenticeship Records: History and Sources with Case Study. Learn about the history of apprenticeship and the numerous sources available for family history research. Discover how these sources helped research a brick wall.

Tuesday 24 September

Tuesday 8 October

Zoom opens at 7pm, starts 7.30pm. Ian Waller Introducing Manorial Documents. From medieval times up to the twentieth century, the manor played a significant role in most rural communities. This talk examines how the manorial system operated and what records it generated in which your ancestor may well have appeared.
