Enlisted at Stockingford 16 May 1917 From a review of his Army service/medical records it appears that Horace suffered some sort of mental illness but, despite the protestations of his brother, he was recruited anyway. However, within a month of being recruited he was placed in Shrewsbury Asylum and it is here that he contracted pneumonia.
