War Memorials – Ansley
The land for the memorial was granted to the parish council by the Ansley Hall Coal and Iron Company on 21st August 1920. The memorial was dedicated on 21st August 1921 by the Dr Charles Lisle-Carr, Bishop of Coventry. Originally, two artillery guns stood either side of the memorial, but they were removed for scrap in World War II.
The inscription on the Ansley memorial is as follows:
To the Honour of the Ansley Men Who Served Their Country
in His Majesty’s Forces During the Great Wars
1914 – 1918 and 1939 – 1945
