War Memorials – Ansty

Ansty church war memorial plaque reads as follows:

To the Glory of God and in Loving Memory of
Major George Stopford Adams
1st Battalion Lancashire Fusiliers, son of Lt General Cadwallader Adams C.B
He served in the South African War 1901-2
In Gallipoli on 25th April 1915
He landed on Beach W Lancashire Landing
and was killed in action 11th May 1915 aged 42
A tribute from the Colonel in Chief of his Regt
I know that in his case the V.C. was thoroughly deserved.

The inscription on the Roll of Honour reads as follows:

Ansty Church Roll of Honour
Men of Ansty Who Served Their King and Country
In the War of 1914 – 1918

In 2012, Ansty erected a war memorial which is a plain black obelisk and the inscription reads as follows:

In memory of the six airmen of EFTS Ansty Aerodrome who died over Ansty in WWII. Rest in peace at Ansty Church.
