War Memorials – Copston Magna

There is a plaque commemorating Harry Parker TOONE who died in the Boer War The inscription reads as follows:

In Loving Memory of Harry Parker Toone Who Died at Pretoria, South
Africa Oct 8th 1900 aged 27 years and is interred in the British Cemetery.
“Be thou faithful until death and I will give thee a crown of life” 

The inscription for the WWI memorial reads as follows:

To the Glory of God and in the Grateful Memory of the Following Men of the Parish Who Gave Their Lives for Their Country in the Great War 1914-1918. My Reward is With Me To Give Every Man According As His Work Shall Be

There is also a plaque in memory of Flt Lt Donovan TOONE who died in 1943. The inscription reads as follows:

IN PROUD AND GRATEFUL MEMOMORY OF FLIGHT LIEUTNENANT DONOVAN TOONE. No 256 NIGHT FIGHTER SQUADRON WHO GAVE HIS LIFE 9TH FEBRUARY 1943.
