A report of the dedication of the Cornish granite Grendon War Memorial on 24 Sept 1921 was published in the Tamworth Herald. There is a copy elsewhere on the NNWFHS website. According to information received when this research was initially undertaken, on the memorial, those with just an initial followed by a surname are those who served in WWII.
The inscription reads as follows:
To the Glory of God and in honoured memory of the men of Grendon
who fought and died for their country in the Great War 1914-1918
Interestingly, seven men from Grendon were among the thirty-two casualties killed in the 1882 explosion at the Baddesley pit. Some of these men are buried in the church graveyard.
